西红柿学名番茄，是一年生草本茄科植物。它的根分布广而深、侧根发达，根系再生能力强，移栽容易成活。它的茎是半蔓生直立的。它的叶是不整理的羽状复叶，叶上有腺毛，对蚜虫等有驱避避作用。
移栽西红柿要先把要用的土壤整的很细，把里面的小石子、小烂草叶子、小树枝子等杂乱的物质拣出来，使土壤松软湿润。在土壤里掺一点点肥料，但是不能掺多了，如果掺多了肥料就会把幼苗烧死了。
选幼苗时，最好选3-4厘米高的，它最容易活了。挖幼苗的时候一定要多带一些土，这样可以减少伤到幼苗的小根，小苗活得会更好。
栽幼苗的时候不，能埋的太深，埋过根部的上面就行了，并且堆成小土堆状，这样可以更快的提高土壤的温度，保证小苗快快地生出新的小根来，提高了移栽的成活率。
移栽完后，刚开始两天焉焉了，就象死了一样。从第二天晚上小苗就醒了，变得挺起来了。第三天到第四天，小苗白天焉焉，早上和傍晚就好了，一直到五六天后，原来的叶子变黄了，变干了，慢慢的长出了新的叶子，茎秆也慢慢的挺直了，移栽就成功了。
